Emulation 101: Classic Gaming on the PC    - Keita Iida |
Fans of the Colecovision can expect quite a treat when playing their
favorite games with ColEm, another in a fine line of emulators
by Marat Fayzullin. The emulator performs well on almost all systems,
due to Marat's refined Z80 (CPU) emulation code. ColEm offers full
sound and joystick support, and ports are available for DOS, Windows,
OS/2, Macintosh and Unix/X.
ADAMEm, available for DOS, Linux/SVGAlib and Unix/X, is a port of
Marat's ColEm done by Marcel de Kogel, but is now far from being just
a port. Formerly known as ColEmDOS, the name change reflects the
ability to emulate Coleco's ADAM computer as well. Although a touch
slower than ColEm, ADAMEm should run decently on most systems, and has
sound and joystick support in all systems to boot. If you have a
computer that is compatible with ADAMEm, this is the one to use.
