After spending the night at an obscure youth hostel in Kobe, we picked up our stuff and took the train to Kyoto (once you're actually in the Kansai region, it's no more than an hour by train from the 3 major cities).

We touched down in JR Kyoto station, which is bigger than some airports I know and features this giant atrium at the entrance. Since I took this photo from several light-years away it's hard to see, but in front of the ticket machines you can see the minions of evil Sonic and Tails spreading their false propaganda (there's a Sega amusement center nearby). I fear for the future of the Japanese people.
