What Systems I Own And Collect For

Own: 2600, 5200, 7800, Colecovision, Intellivision, Odyssey 2, Vectrex, Aquarius, Fairchild, all the more modern cart systems, a bunch of Pong-era stuff, some handhelds, a coin-op every now and then, ADAM, Studio II.
Collect: All of the above, APF, VideoBrain (well, I have carts for these 2, so I guess that means I collect for them), and anything cheap that comes along.

How Many Games I Own For Each System

2600: 355
5200: 70
7800: 49
Colecovision: 67
Intellivision: 99
Odyssey 2: 33
Vectrex: 2 (have more systems than carts...)
The others: not interesting enough to bother counting

How Long I've Been Actively Collecting

Since around 1990

Possessions In My Collection I'm Most Proud Of

Gravitar proto
Boxed Smurfs Save the Day (with KidVid)
2600 signed by Nolan Bushnell (after rushing the stage...)
My now far too small silver Atari jacket from 1982 when I joined the Atari Club.
A weird 2600 Blueprint in a bright white plastic case, with a green "Not for Sale" sticker on the label.

Other Tidbits/Comments

My take on collecting/a message to collectors:

Don't collect these games because of nostalgia for your youth, and don't even think about collecting for money. Collect these games because regardless of the form in which the audio or visual presentations are made, it is the underlying game that matters, and what we call classic games deliver just as good (if not better) underlying play experiences as do more modern games. In the end we play these games for entertainment, so play the games which deliver the most. There is nothing wrong with playing the hottest new game and then playing a game of Pong on a dedicated console - it is all about playing the game which provides the most enjoyable playing experience.
