AGH Atari 2600 Review:
MS. PAC-MAN

by Atari

Ms. Pac-Man
Every 2600 fan probably knows the story about the original Pac-Man game on the VCS, about how disapointing it was. But then Atari released the sequel, Ms. Pac-Man, and let me tell you, it is a MUCH better arcade port than the first one. While the original was probably rushed, this time Atari took its time to create a good port.

The object is the same as in Pac-Man: get the dots while avoiding the ghosts. This time around, however, just about everything from the arcade is in here. The bonus fruits are back, then ghosts are their usual colors and change expression if you get a power pellet, and the maze changes every few levels. There's even a little show at the end of the game.

As I said, the graphics have been much improved over the original, and despite not perfectly matching the arcade game, it's still excellent. However, some flicker still exists. The sounds have gotten better as well, with some very whimsical music and effects.

Those let down by Pac-Man should find relief with this cart, and it does the series proud. Not one to be missed, especially by Pac-Man fans.
