AGH Atari 2600 Review: BARNSTORMING by Activision Barnstorming was one of the earlier 2600 efforts by Activision and is a sterling example of how a simple concept can provide gaming pleasure (Freeway, Fishing Derby, Stampede, Kaboom! and Dragster are other examples of Activision's talents at this.) You control a plane in a horizontal (i.e. Defender) perspective with the object being to fly through a predetermined number of barns in the least amount of time as possible. Along the way, you must avoid such hazards as flocks of geese and windmills. The game ends when you fly through the specified number of barns. Had it offered a two-player, split-screen mode, Barnstorming would rate as one of the best multiplayer games for any console. As it stands, however, it's a refreshing change of pace and great fun for a quick session of gaming bliss.
