what?!

Yup, if you weren't there, you really missed it. But this is were you'll find pictures and reviews. The Con is over,a great memorably weekend filled with excitement, collectors and games! The reactions are all very positive. A lot of the attandees have put up their pictures and reviews online so you can read what it was like. Definite highlights were some of the videos we showed, the trading-session, the long but thrilling competitions, the trivia-quiz, and the auction.

On Saturday we were filled with pride to host THE OFFICIAL EUROPEAN DECATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP sponsored by AcTiVision Germany. Marc Oberhäuser really had done a great job here, and everybody was thrilled with all the prizes, nicely displayed in the big AcTiVision Display stand. The results of this championship (in which everyone competed) will be posted soon. As for the other competitions, some took quite long but were still very fun and exiting! All the donated prizes were great too. Here are the basic results:

Colin Woodbridge is now the Official 1999 Activision DECATHLON European Champion.
John Christovassilis went home with the 2nd prize for ENTOMBED and 2nd for WARLORDS.
Arne Kuilman made it all the way to the top (1st prize) in BOMBERMAN (4 player DYNABLASTER on the Amiga 1200), and ENTOMBED.
Ross Hamilton flew back home with the 1st prize for WARLORDS.
Steve Rich was 2nd in BOMBERMAN. Marc Oberhäuser is a wizard at Videogame Trivia, Jens Klöpfel is 2nd, and Chris Powell 3rd.

Personally, I (Roloff "Deleto" de Jeu) feel and believe that it couldn't hardly have been any better. For a first-time event that had never been held on this part of the world before, and probably nowhere in the world the way we set it up - it definitally was a blast. The weekend will probably be one of the best (for me) for at least 1999. The event will remain one of the top-highlights in my collecting carreer. We achieved our goals and have proven to ourselves that a great collectors meeting -as good as the ones in the US- can be realised in Europe.

All of us felt that there should be a sequel to Euro-Con, but me, Marco and Arne feel it is up to other collectors to set it up. Not an easy task, and it will take quite some effort to organize a like-wise meeting that will live up to Euro-Con. But, to encourage those that are in doubt, seeing all the energy you've put into it being transformed into a massive amount of happyness, joy and excitement (as was clearly visible and feelable in Broek in Waterland), is incredibly satisfying. It made me feel proud too.

For now, there will be a one-day meeting in the UK (a follow-up to a succesful recent one), organized by Jon "wibble" Dyton, on Saturday 6th of June (1999), in Milton Keynes. More information on Britmeet '99 at
