And you thought Mortal Kombat was bad!
Just as it did in arcades, Atari continued to milk the Pong franchise and squeeze every last once of profit that it could. Aside from Pong, there was Super Pong, Ultra Pong, Pong Doubles, Ultra Pong Doubles... the list is long to say the least. In Atari's defense, such derivatives at least managed to keet the company afloat until it could once again reclaim the title of innovators with such offerings as Breakout, Asteroids, and, of course, its Atari VCS machine. Ultra Pong Doubles essentially allowed up to four players (two on each side) to play, and a few new game variations were thrown-in to boot. |
