1982-1983 Fox Video Games, which was based in Santa Clara, CA and a subsidiary of Twentieth Century Fox (the film and television conglomerate), relied largely on its movie and TV franchises to sell its games. Carts based on The Fantastic Voyage, MASH, Flash Gordon and Porky's, Megaforce, Alien and Spacemaster X-7 appeared on the 2600, with others in the pipeline (9 to 5, The Fall Guy, etc.) before they threw in the towel. Among their non-movie games, Turmoil, Fast Eddie, Beany Bopper and Worm War I were licensed from Sirius Software who originally had designed the games for computers. Finally, Fox offered a handful of original titles such as Crash Dive and Bank Heist. The quality of Fox's games were inconsistent, to say the least, and after releasing a total of 17 games for the 2600 without a single hit on their hands, they gave up and exited the videogame field. Fox has recently re-entered the software publishing market under the name Fox Interactive, developing games for the PC and Playstation.
